Swimming With The Sharks

I recently attempted one of the toughest and longest of Ocean 7 swims – Molokai channel in Hawaii islands.
This channel is characterized by very strong currents, huge swells, huge presence of tiger sharks, the deadly Portuguese man o war species of jellyfish amongst many other marine creatures.
Swim started at 6pm on 31/Mar and I swam through the entire night in pitch dark waters.
Unfortunately, I had to abort the swim after almost swimming for 13 hours due to excruciating pain from a sting from Portuguese man o war jellyfish.
There was so much of learning from that experience that I will always cherish. Most importantly , swimming amidst the sharks through the night was mentally very challenging and I was happy that I could conquer my fears and “survived through the night”.
Sometimes we win, sometimes we learn. And this swim clearly had many elements of the latter. I will have to go back someday and hope to finish the unfinished business.
