Divya Mahajan becomes the youngest female in the world to swim across North Channel
On a stunning display of raw grit, courage and determination, Divya Mahajan, 16-year-old school student from Nashik, Maharashtra, has become the youngest woman in the world to swim across the North Channel — a gruelling 35-km stretch between Northern Ireland and Scotland on 23rd Aug 2026.
Battling brutally cold waters, strong currents and massive Lion’s Mane jellyfish, she completed the crossing in an incredible 15 hours 50 minutes.
Coached by Srikaanth Viswanathan, an accomplished international open-water swimmer, Tenzing Norgay National Adventure Awardee and Founder of Dreams to Live Academy.
This remarkable achievement comes after she successfully conquered the Catalina Channel in 2025.
She aspires to complete the Ocean’s Seven swim challenge.
