English Channel swimmer and National Awardee Srikaanth Viswanathan successfully coached and led a teamof four swimmers from diverse backgrounds across the Strait of Gibraltar on 1st May 2026.
The team comprised renowned fitness icon Milind Soman, IAS officer Shreyas Hosur, mother of twins Tanvi Deore, and a helicopter pilot Deepika Rana; each bringing a unique journey and perspective to the challenging open-water expedition between Spain and Morocco (Europe to Africa).

Srikaanthdescribed the experience as “truly memorable.”

“We reached Spain a week prior to our swim window and trained twice daily to acclimatize to the cold water conditions. It turned out to be a perfect day for the swim, and the team completed the crossing in an impressive time of 4 hours and 33 minutes,” he said.
He further added, “Through my academy, Dreams to Live, our mission is to empower individuals to realise their true potential and turn their aspirations into reality.”
This remarkable feat stands as a testament to resilience, teamwork and the power of pushing beyond perceived limits.
